The purpose of this life is knowing God.
This month we are going to learn about what it means to KNOW God. This might sound basic, but if the foundation is shaky, then anything built on top of it will crumble. We are going to lay a solid foundation upon the Rock of Jesus Christ.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25 ESV)
God made humanity for His pleasure, and it was always supposed to be a mutual relationship. We messed it up, on our end. So now the whole point of our lives is “finding” God – being reconciled to him in relationship. If we miss this, we miss the entire point of our existence. Nothing else we accomplish matters if we don’t get this right.
I hope that if I can teach you one thing this year, it is that everything about our relationship with God is about the heart. My sweet friends… Jesus wants your heart more than anything else. He wants you to fall so deeply and madly in love with Him that everything else in this world fades away. This is what He meant when He said:
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40 ESV)
Jesus wants to be your first love.
Please Pray With Me:
Jesus, I want to KNOW You. I want to fall so deeply in love with You that everything else will pale in comparison. Be my first love. I want You to be the Rock of my salvation! Open my eyes, Lord, that I might see You. Open my heart to know Your joy and peace. Show me purpose and meaning for my life. Oh Jesus, please take me and use me mightily for Your kingdom!
In Your precious Name I pray,
Amen
Today’s Assignment:
Please listen to Open the Eyes of My Heart and pray it as a prayer from your heart.
I want you to start writing in your prayer journal today. Jot down your hopes for this year and how you want God to move in your life. What brought you to this challenge? What is your story so far? Share with a friend or within your small group chat if you feel comfortable doing so.
